Ready Now Grant success
NINE community groups benefited from the Corangamite Shire Ready Now Grants Program.
Over the last quarter – which ran March until May, 14 applications were lodged under the program, according to shire community development officer Garry Moorfield.
He said nine were approved which included:

Derrinallum Bowling Club Incorporated, $398 for the purchase of a ditch step for green access;
Camperdown and District Historical Society Incorporated, $500 for the reprint of Robert Burns booklet;
South West Model Engineers Incorporated, $500 for the purchase of leaf and stick rake;
Scotts Creeks and Cowleys Creek Public Hall Incorporated, $500 for the purchase of five folding tables;
Lismore Cemetery Trust Incorporated, $422 for the purchase and installation of security cameras and lights;
Skipton Progress Association Incorporated, $472 for the purchase of two market banners;
South Western District Restoration Group Incorporated, $500 to replace club entrance sign; and
Cobden and District Historical Society, $440 for the purchase of two roadside promotional signs.
Mr Moorfield said five additional applications were received which did not comply with relevant council policies.
“Following discussions with the applicants three were withdrawn,” he said.
“One application seeking $500 for garden maintenance was not supported.
“Further information was requested in regard to an application, but as yet has not been supplied.”
Up until the end of May, $17,531.64 has been awarded under the 2023/24 Quick Response Grants/Ready Now Program.
The new Ready Now Grants Program was adopted in September 2023 and replaced the previous Quick Response Grants Program which operated for more than a decade.
“The program is designed to be flexible and responsive to community needs,” Mr Moorfield said.
“Applications for Ready Now Grants are assessed as they are received with approval of grant applications delegated to the chief executive officer enabling quick turnaround of applications as the process isn’t required to meet monthly reporting times.”
Councillor Nick Cole congratulated all successful applicants.
“Small amounts of money can make a massive difference,” he said.
“It makes a big difference to a small group.”
