The team had only one loss for the home and away season, which was to the undefeated Pythons side who dominated the competition.

Meeting in the grand final, a close encounter was expected.

Pythons got off to a flying start in the first quarter but Red Rockets scored seven goals in the second and restricted the Pythons to just three.

Pythons had the lead by one goal at the main break and an eight goal to six third-quarter should have put Pythons into a winnable position going into the final quarter.

Intense defensive pressure by Red Rockets and accurate shooting saw them win by just one goal, 26-25.

The best and fairest was convincingly won by Hamish Hobbs with 11 votes, with Tom Hetherington runner-up with six.

The female award was a lot closer with Bella O’Sullivan on seven votes and Grace Wareham on six votes.
