Region experiences a dry spell in Feburary
FEBRUARY was a dry month in Camperdown, Lismore and Derrinallum, with rainfall significantly below last year’s total.
In Camperdown, just 0.5mm of rainfall was recorded in February this year.
The figure was significantly below last year’s February total of 86mm and the long-term monthly average of 36.4mm.
Only one day of rainfall was recorded in February; the 0.5mm of rainfall that fell for the month was recorded on February 14.
Camperdown’s rainfall total for 2024 currently sits at 57.1mm.
Meanwhile, Lismore saw 0.6mm of rainfall hitting the ground in February.
The rainfall was split over three days, February 5, 14 and 26, with all three days recording the highest daily rainfall of 0.2mm each day.
The figure, like in Camperdown, was significantly below Lismore’s February 2023 rainfall total of 35.6mm.
The February rainfall was also below the long-term monthly average of 35.2mm.
Lismore’s rainfall total for 2024 currently sits at 33mm.
In Derrinallum, 1mm of rainfall was recorded for the month of February.
The figure falls well below the long-term monthly average of 33.9mm and is significantly lower than last year’s total of 39.2mm.
The highest daily rainfall was recorded on February 2, where 0.6mm of rainfall hit the ground.
To date, Derrinallum’s rainfall total for 2024 sits at 48.4mm.
