“VICSES volunteers from Port Campbell, Cobden and Colac units were called to assist ambulance crews after reports of an injured patient near Gellibrand Lower,” a VICSES spokesperson said.

“Volunteers were informed a single wheel ‘mule’ stretcher may be required to assist in the patient’s retrieval from a nearby beach and attended with this capability.

“Upon arrival, crews worked with Ambulance Victoria to devise a retrieval plan and were ultimately not required to assist with the patient’s retrieval.”
