Reward for four-quarter effort
AN impressive four quarter performance from Camperdown’s senior footballers has seen the Magpies defeat Port Fairy by 49 points at Leura Oval.

“It was a great result, we played really good footy,” Camperdown coach Clinton Thomas said.
“It’s the next iteration in our development, showing we can compete for four quarters.”
The 16.9.105 to 8.8.56 win was Camperdown’s fifth of the season.
Billy Arnold kicked two goals and was named best for the Magpies.
“Billy presented well and was a fantastic target up forward,” Thomas said.
Bayley Thompson kicked a match high four goals, and Thomas was thrilled with his game.
“Bayley is taking his footy to the next level, he has exciting attributes and plenty of speed.
“He’s converting well at goal, it’s an aspect of his game he’s spent time on and is getting results in.”
Matthew Field and Josh Place were also in the best for Camperdown.
“Matty is a class player, very consistent and works a lot during a game,” Thomas said.
“Josh played on (Port Fairy star) Jason Rowan, he ensured his impact was small.”
This week Camperdown will travel to Bushfield to take on top of the ladder North Warrnambool.
“We are ready to compete hard against them and give it a real crack.”
In the reserves, Port Fairy had an 11.3.69 to 6.8.44 win.
Best for Camperdown were Paddy Baker, Isaac McVilly, Lucas Wiffen and Tim Fitzgerald in his 100th reserves match for the club.

In the Open netball, Port Fairy led at every change before being overrun in the last quarter; Camperdown winning 66-62.
“While we were down at the end of each quarter, it was a see-sawing game with the lead regularly changing,” Camperdown coach Jill Leader said.
“We had a tense talk at three-quarter time about how we’d given them opportunities which let them back in the game.”
The Magpies scored 19 goals to 13 in the last quarter to run out four goal winners.
“It was a hard fought game; a great game,” Leader said.
“We kept at them and finished strongly.”
Teenage star Piper Stephens scored 35 goals in a best on court performance.
“Piper is really coming into her own, she’s played two very, very good games in a row.
“When she lifted in the last quarter it made everyone else lift around her, there’s an excitement to how she plays.”
Goal shooter Nell Mitchell put through 31 goals for the Magpies.
Rosie Pickles and Jess Cameron were also in Camperdown’s best.
“Rosie was a real leader in defence, she really stepped up with Annaliese Hughes away.
“Jess has been playing well in division one, she came in and made a great contribution, rebounding well.”
The win sees Camperdown in fifth place with a six point buffer over Portland in sixth.
“We just need to keep winning those kinds of games,” Leader said.
The Magpies play ninth placed North Warrnambool this week, a game Leader is not taking lightly.
“We’re expecting a very competitive game, as it was last time we played them.”
