Batting first the Lakers could only manage 98 despite some good early batting from Jye McLaughlin and Noah Riches.

Riches top scored with 40 from 47 balls, with McLaughlin making 25 from 19.

“Jye and Noah got us off to a really good start, it was a shame we couldn’t keep that momentum going,” Lakers skipper Steve Fisher said.

“Noah has been really impressive so far this season, there’s only been once where he hasn’t made runs.”

In reply, Ecklin cruised to victory in the 23rd over for the loss of four wickets, with opener Tyson Royal making 50 from 55 balls.

“We didn’t take our chances which you need to do to defend a small score, we dropped Royal on zero which certainly didn’t help.”
