Riders take to wet roads
COLD, wet and windy conditions greeted cyclists for a night of racing in Camperdown last Thursday.

With sunny days (hopefully) just around the corner, cyclists put their best pedals forward and although no personal bests were created last week, all members are congratulated on their efforts in unfavourable conditions.
Last Thursday night’s winner was a new rider to the roads.
Rieley joined the club and took the win on his first race night; smiling while he crossed the line and took the chequered flag in a time of 15.19.
In second place was Quinn (11.53), followed by Nathaniel (13.18) in third.
Other riders times included Zane (11.27), Josh (10.27) with the fastest time of the night, Finn (10.51), Ava (13.09) and Thea, with a strong ride in to the wind (13.10).
As the times indicated, there was some great team work and some great sprints to the finish line.
The seniors’ social race saw eight riders take to the wet roads.
The scratch riders clawed their way back to the main bunch, which saw a large group of riders working together before the finish line.
Next week the seniors will turn up the heat and start their points race series.

All new and returning riders are welcome to join the Thursday racing but need to be registered with Auscycling.
Race two the previous week (October 17) was a wet and soggy night, however, the sky cleared long enough for the junior team to roll over the start line.
Henry, the newest rider competing in his first race, crossed the line first in a time of 12.29.
He was followed by Nathaniel (12.09) with a personal best, and Josh (9.31) in third and also with a personal best time.
The girls were also strong that night, with Ava (11.43) finishing in first place, followed by Thea (11.53).
Zane (10.31) and Quinn (11.30) both finished the ride in the rain.
The senior riders rolled out in the rain and finished in the same weather.
Well done to Josh and Zane for pushing themselves in the conditions.
Matt, Todd and Shaun were soaked to the bone.
The club is looking for extra senior riders to ride with some very fresh, young riders as mentors.
Camperdown Cycling Club welcomes all new and returning riders for the summer 2024/25 series.
Races are held each Thursday, with juniors marshalling at 5.15pm and seniors at 5.45pm.
Auscycling offers a four-week trial registration, available through its website.
