Road closure

A CLOSURE along the Cobden-Port Campbell road has left only one lane of traffic flowing for a stretch of almost two kilometres.

Western District Newspapers understands the Cobden-bound land was closed on Wednesday, May 28 due to the erosion of the road caused by heavy rainfall.

Short-term repair works have been undertaken on the 1.8 kilometre stretch of road and are continuing to be undertaken to ensure the safety of road users.

“We’ve put a lane closure in place along this section of Cobden-Port Campbell Road while we continue works,” Department of Transport and Planning Barwon South West executive director Michael Bailey said.

“We’re planning long term repair works at this site and will keep the community informed as we progress.”

There is currently no indication of how long the lane will be closed for as works take place.

Motorists should take care to follow signs in the area due to changed road conditions.
