LONGER term plans for repair of a section of the Cobden-Port Campbell Road are in the works.

The section near Scotts Creek which has had minor repair works in recent months has been reduced to 60 kilometres per hour.

Department of Transport and Planning acting regional director Debbie Seymour was aware of the issues.

“The safety of all motorists is our number one priority,” she said.

“We’re always working to improve and maintain our roads to give drivers across the state smoother and more reliable journeys.

“Based on our regular inspections, crews have discovered issues with a section of road at Cobden-Port Campbell Road and Lavers Hill-Cobden Road and we are currently planning for longer-term repairs at these locations.”

While the roads can be repaired the immediate response of Department of Transport and Planning was to reduce the speed limit and conduct short-term repairs.

The short-term works help ensure the roads can remain open until warmer, drier conditions enable lasting repair work.

Crews will continue to rectify any hazards until further improvement works can be completed.

The community was encouraged to report any hazards or concerns about the road network by calling 133 778.
