Road upgrades set to begin across region
DRIVERS can expect some delays in coming weeks as works along two roads around Camperdown start.
The rehabilitation works will cover a 1.8km stretch of Darlington Road, Bookaar from Newminister Road and a 1.5km stretch between Old Timboon road and Cuthberts Road on the Princes Highway on the eastern side of Camperdown.
The Camperdown Chronicle understands the works will involve rebuilding the road from the ground up in order to repair and strengthen the roads.
The rehabilitation works on Darlington Road and the Princes Highway are part of the hundreds of individual projects – ranging from on-road repairs to inspections and maintenance of road infrastructure – to be conducted between now and June 2025.
Works on the Darlington Road will begin on Monday, November 11, and are predicted to be completed by mid-January weather-permitting.
At the time of publication, no confirmed start date was available for the works to be conducted on the Princes Highway.
Department of Transport and Planning executive director Barwon South West and Grampians Michael Bailey said the works are part of the regional road maintenance blitz announced by the Victorian State Government last month.
“We’ll continue to keep the community informed as we get on with delivering this important work,” he said.
Drivers are urged to be cautious on the roads as more workers are deployed across the road network due to the current warm and dry conditions.
