Roadworks blitz hits south west
REGIONAL Roads Victoria (RRV) began works along the Princes Highway and Terang-Mortlake Road recently as part of a south west roads blitz.

REGIONAL Roads Victoria (RRV) began works along the Princes Highway and Terang-Mortlake Road recently as part of a south west roads blitz.
This financial year, RRV is rebuilding, repairing and resurfacing more than 250 kilometres of arterial roads as part of the Victorian Government’s investment in regional road maintenance across south western Victoria.
As part of this investment, resealing work on Terang-Mortlake Road was completed last week. About 900 metres was resealed between Hood Avenue and Mortlake-Framlingham Road (across two sections).
An additional two sections totalling 4.3 kilometres was resealed between Bakers Road and Tapps Lane at a cost of $382,000.
Department of Transport director (Barwon South West) Vanessa Schernickau said crews had been working on multiple sections of road throughout the area.
“Our crews were hard at work resealing sections of the Princes Highway and Terang-Mortlake Road last week to deliver safer and more reliable journeys for everyone travelling on these key routes,” she said.
“These works are just some of the many improvements that we’re delivering across south western Victoria over coming months as part of a massive program of regional road maintenance.”
The Australian and Victorian governments’ have also invested $40 million for improvements to the Princes Highway between Colac and the South Australian border.
As part of this investment, RRV crews resealed nearly 3.5 kilometres of the Princes Highway outside Terang between Littles Lane and just east of Pontings Road. Works were completed in two sections.
Just under a kilometre of resealing work will also take place on the highway just west of Garvoc this week, weather permitting.
The cost for these works will be $314,000.
