PAST and present members of the Terang Rotary Club gathered to celebrate 75 years since the branch was chartered.

Around 70 people filled the Rose Room at the Civic Hall last week as the club paid tribute to the accomplishments of its members.

Among those in attendance was District Governor Ian McKay and South West Coast MP Roma Britnell, who spoke on the impact the club has made on its community.

Rotary Club of Terang president Wayne Reicha thanked members, partners and friends of Rotary for their invaluable contributions.

“Everyone was very happy and excited, it was a bit of a reunion,” he said.

“It brought back great memories.

“Everyone discussed many things which they had enjoyed about Rotary, what projects they had been part of and all those sorts of things.”

The club paid homage to its recent history, celebrating the past 25 years with a projected slideshow presenting information and photographs of the range of projects Rotary members had accomplished.

The walls to the Rose Room were lined with photographs, press clippings, trophies, awards and certificates of acknowledgement.

While giving back to the community is a focal point for Rotary, the club boasts decades of friendships, social connection and a shared sense of purpose for its members.

“You’re working together as a team so it’s not an individual thing,” Mr Reicha said.

“We’re all focused on the one thing, which is helping others, and that’s what it’s all about.”

Mr Reicha said looking back on what the club had accomplished, and seeing members take a moment to reflect on the positive impact they had made, was rewarding.

“When you look over collective years it’s quite a big achievement,” he said.

“There are a lot of contributions to the community the club has done, and also internationally.”

Rotary Club of Terang is always on the lookout for new membership, with a diverse range of opportunities available to ensure individual skills can collectively unite to create positive change.

“Rotary is a good outlet if you want to be part of giving back to the community,” Mr Reicha said.

“We welcome everyone, whether you want to be involved in a voluntary matter, be that helping physically with projects or being involved in other ways.”
