Rotary reflects on successful year of markets
CAMPERDOWN’S Rotary Club is looking back on a productive year, with its final two markets for the year providing a boom for stallholders.
The monthly market was held on Sunday, December 3, with a special twilight market coinciding with the Light Up Camperdown Festival.
Camperdown Rotary Club secretary Graeme Fischer saidthere were around 30 stalls at the Sunday market, which is believed to be the largest market in 10 years,
“On Sunday, one person took over $1000, two others took over $500,” he said.
Mr Fischer was also proud of the turnout for the Light Up Camperdown markets, despite poor weather.
“Friday was a wonderful event. We had over 20; a couple had gone with the terrible weather,” he said.
“There were about 20 stalls, and that added to the 30 stalls from Sunday; there’s been two wonderful markets over the past week.
“Kudos to everyone who’s contributed on the weekend.”
For the festival, the Rotary Market included a variety of attractions, which Mr Fischer said was good despite the wet and windy conditions on the day.
“We need to thank Tammy Young from the shire and community house for their efforts; community house organised the face-painting,” he said.
“The scouts were down. There was wonderful food; there was Iraqi food, there was Vietnamese food, Dutch pancakes, and the dumpling man, and a number of other stalls.
“The three dancing girls were fantastic, and the people who organised that should be congratulated.”
The monthly Rotary markets will return in January, with plans to expand the monthly markets further in discussion stages.
