Donations appreciated: Camperdown Rotary Club secretary Graeme Fischer has called on residents to keep aside their old hearing aids, glasses, can tags and more to support Rotary’s work for charities.

The club host a blue bin in their tent at the monthly Rotary Market in the avenue, collecting donations for a variety of things which would otherwise be thrown away.

Camperdown Rotary Club secretary Graeme Fischer said the club had recently started collecting the aluminium tags off cans, which are recycled to create prosthetic limbs.

“We continue to collect stamps, plastic bread clips, medicine blister packs and plastic bottle tops,” he said.

“We also still collect glasses and hearing aids, having received 1700 pairs of glasses and 500 hearing aids in four years.

“We would appreciate it if we had the one item in the one bag.”

The Rotary Club members have also been busy in recent weeks, making donations to areas impacted by the recent bushfires.

“We donated a substantial amount of money to the food bank up at Skipton, which is associated with the Skipton Op Shop,” Mr Fischer said.

“They will need money to feed the BlazeAid people who are rebuilding fencing.

“We also collected a reasonable amount of money in a tin for the food bank in Colac.

“Thank you to the community for their generosity.”

Donations can be made at the Camperdown Rotary Club tent at the market, which is held on the first Sunday of every month.
