Rotary views printing press
WESTERN District Newspapers hosted a visit on Monday, with members of Camperdown Rotary Club viewing the press and learning more about the newspaper.
Ten Rotarians attended the office in Camperdown, with director Stewart Esh and printer Chris Esh sharing the history of the company as well as showing old newspaper copies and plates.
Camperdown Rotary Club secretary Graeme Fischer said the visit proved informative.
“It was a wonderful evening because we learned about the history.
“I think people were very impressed by the whole process.
“Not a lot of little towns have local newspapers anymore.
“We had a talk about the history before we went downstairs and viewed the press.
“It’s good to let the new members of the community know about what is happening in town.”
The visit also had a strong connection, with Norm Esh, father of Stewart and Chris, being a Rotarian from 1969-2014 – including serving as treasurer for the Camperdown club from 1985-2010.
