Round 10 thriller for Lismore

LISMORE and Linton played out a thrilling tie in the round 10 Grenville Cricket Association match.


Batting first at the Lismore Recreation Reserve, the home team made 9/184 from their 40 overs.

Hayden Brett top scored with 47 from 52 balls, hitting four fours and a six.

Clint Dudman made 29 from 43 balls, Tom Brett 29 from 31 and Scott Walker 27 from 47.

After an early run out, Linton’s second wicket partnership added 122 to have the visitors seemingly in control.

Scott Walker was brought into the attack and broke the partnership, removing both players which then saw regular wickets fall for Linton.

Going into the final over, Linton needed nine to win with three wickets in hand.

Hayden Brett was entrusted with the ball, conceding just a bye in the first two balls before claiming a wicket with the third.

Lismore got a run out with the very next ball to be right on top.

The next ball went for two, with what was supposed to be the final ball of the innings; being a no ball that went for two and needed to be rebowled.

The final ball of the match went for two to level the scores at 9/184 each.

Walker led the bowling with 3/31 from eight overs, with Hayden Brett and Clint Dudman taking two each.

This week Lismore play Derrinallum at Derrinallum in the final round before the Christmas break.

In the under 16s, Lismore had a six wicket loss to Rokewood at Lismore.

Lismore batted first and made 8/60 from 20 overs.

Opener Bailey Childs top scored with 16 retired.

In reply, Rokewood made 4/61 from their 20 overs, Jack Fay taking 3/6 from 3.5 overs.

This week Lismore’s under 16s play Derrinallum at Lismore.

In the under 12s, Lismore had a 27 run loss to Linton at Lismore.

Batting first, Lismore made 109 with Noah Dudman top scoring with six.

Linton replied with 136, with Dudman and Josh McConachy taking two wickets each.

The next game for the Lismore under 12s isn’t until February 6.
