Round three of Winter Cup
ROUND three of the Frank Northeast Winter Cup (par) was contested at the Cobden Golf Club last weekend.
Saturday’s competition attracted 24 players.
The winner of A grade was D. Stewart who finished square, followed by A. Giles also square.
Balls down the line went to G. Rix, Lach Green, B. Bourke, D. Bath and C. Sargeant.
B grade was won by D. Brown -2, followed by T. Gardner -2 and B. Bourke -2.
Nearest the pins: 4th and 7th Lach Green, 10th P. Irvine, closest second on the second was B. Welsby and closest on the 14th A. Holster.
Winter Cup results – 1st A. Giles +4, 2nd C. Dobson -1, 3rd G. Rix and D. Bath both on -2.
A. Holster eagled the par five, third hole to win the McQuinn Plumbing eagles nest.
This Saturday, June 6, will be the monthly medal and putting competition (stroke).
Monday’s Kings Birthday holiday will be a stableford competition, 9.30am for a 10am shotgun start.
The Wednesday competition saw some good results on May 20 and 27.
Eleven players enjoyed pleasant autumn weather on May 20, competing in a par competition.
The winner of the day was Jeannine White, six over par, with Julie Simmonds the runner-up on seven over (on a countback).
Nearest the pins: Judy Myers (B grade) on the fourth hole and Sherine Healey (A grade) on the 10th.
Ellen Darcy was nearest on the seventh, with Sherine Healey earning a ball down the line.
Wednesday, May 27 saw players compete in a 4BBB with funds raised going towards the Royal Women’s Hospital.
The winners were Janine Stevens and Dave Stewart on 44 points, on countback from runners-up Deb Ferrari and Julie Simmonds, also on 44.
Nearest the pins: A grade – Chloe Healey, Sherine Healey and Dave Stewart; B grade- Janine Stevens and Deb Ferrari; C grade – Marie Smith.
Balls down the line went to Dave Stewart and Alex Holster on 42 points.
