RSL day a success at Mortlake
THE Mortlake greens have been busy in recent times, with last weekend’s RSL fundraiser one of the highlights.

In midweek pennant last week, the sixth round was played in division three against Terang.
Mortlake 1 Purple lost to Terang 2 Red 34-27 at home.
Glenice Kenna drew with Dianne Meade 16 all and Dianne Robertson lost to Jean Fidge 11-18.
Midweek pennant selections for this week:
Mortlake Purple (div. 3) away to City 7 Emeralds:
Glenice Kenna (s), Val Smith, Dawn Hadfield and Sandra Richie (m).
Dianne Robertson(s),Gertie MacDonald, Rita Pasque and Wilma McDonald.
Tuesday social pennant also played this week and the results were not available before the newspaper deadline.
However, going into matches today, Mortlake Blue was still on top with 52 points +41 shots and Mortlake White was in second place with 42 points +39 shots.
Camperdown is close on their heels in third with 38 points +15 shots and Timboon rounds out the four with 26 points -6 shots.
Round 6 of weekend pennant:
Mortlake 1 Blue (div. 1) lost to City 1 Red 43-59 (away).
Les Johnson def. Bryan Sheehan 17-13; Darren Grant lost to Matthew Solly 15-22; George Draffen lost to David Wells 11-24.
Mortlake Blue is currently sixth on the ladder by two points, behind fifth place Warrnambool 1 Gold and five points behind fourth placed Port Fairy 1 Red.
Mortlake 2 White (div. 2) defeated Timboon 2 Maroon 59-47 at home:
Alan Puzey def. Peter Neal 16-13; Paul Delaney def. Barry Bowen 25-15; Richard Draffen lost to Jim Trigg 18-19.
Mortlake White is still fourth on the ladder, two points ahead of fifth placed Warrnambool 4 Green and two points behind third place Koroit 2 Saints.
Mortlake 3 Gold (div. 4) lost to Warrnambool 6 Orange at home:
Don Murray lost to Greg Howlett 19-26; Frank Robertson lost to Bernie Crowe 17-21.
Mortlake Gold is still in sixth place.

Last Sunday the Mortlake RSL held a fundraiser bowls afternoon, with proceeds going towards the great work they do within our community.
Forty-two players as 14 triples teams came and played bowls in much better weather conditions than the previous day, with varying levels of experience.
Nevertheless, the handful of spectators loved watching the bowls action and a fun afternoon was had by all.
At the end of the day, there were only three teams with three wins for the day.
In third place, was the RSL 2 team skipped by John McGuigan with three wins, +14 shots.
Runners-up for the day was the team skippered by Kevin Johnson, Dawn Hadfield and Val Smith with three wins +20 shots.
The winners on the day was the team skippered by Colin Goldsworthy, Glenice Kenna and Thelma Inverarity with three wins +35 shots.
Congratulations to the winners and runners-up, as well as a thank you to everyone who played to support a great cause.
A special mention to all the local businesses that helped with approximately 50 raffle prizes.
