Run for Lachie
HANNAH Fleming is not one to shy away from a challenge – especially when it’s for a good cause.

HANNAH Fleming is not one to shy away from a challenge – especially when it’s for a good cause.
And what better reason to run a 21.1 kilometre half marathon than to raise funds for the Brain Cancer Foundation, a charity so very dear to her heart.
Hannah’s nephew Lachlan Stephenson passed away from a rare type of paediatric brain cancer on January 1 this year at the age of 20.
Brain cancer is one of the biggest killers in children yet there have been no major advances in 60 years for treating the type of brainstem tumour which took Lachlan’s life.
“Lachie was amazing and he is certainly my inspiration; running 21 kilometres is nothing; I’m just hoping the community gets behind my fundraising efforts and we can raise as much money as possible,” Hannah said.
“So far, for this run, we’ve raised about $4600 but since his fundraising page began, shortly after we lost him, our aim was to hit $60,000 and we’re now only $649 short of that – but we’ll smash it.”
Hannah’s 21.1 kilometre course will take her all through the “back streets” of Camperdown next Friday, November 18.
Sam McGuane, Brain Cancer Foundation general manager, will run the same distance in Tasmania on Sunday November 20.
“Sam is running the Point to Pinnacle on the Sunday and because we couldn’t get to Tasmania, we thought we’d run the same distance here; around town,” Hannah said.
“Anyone wanting to make a donation can either click the link on Lachie’s facebook page or use the QR code on this page.”
A keen sportsman, Lachie loved nothing more than kicking the footy at Camperdown or bouncing a basketball with the Terang Tornadoes.
He was a student at Camperdown College in his primary school years and Cobden Technical School for his secondary education.
