The works stared last Wednesday, and will occur at the intersections of Dawson Street, Dimora Avenue, and Park Lane and Fenton Street.

Corangamite Shire Council manager assets planning John Kelly said the outstand installation is expected to be completed at the end of May, weather permitting.

“Traffic management is in place while the works are being carried out and motorists, cyclist and pedestrians are advised to observe signage and drive, ride or walk appropriately for the conditions,” he said.

“The outstands will improve the safety for pedestrians by reducing the road width for them to cross.

“Also, it is expected that the narrowed road width at the outstands will have a traffic calming effect reducing the speed of traffic.

“The installation of the outstands supports an objective of the council plan to improve accessibility in our townships.”
