School holiday fun and games to be had
Junkyard Beats performers Kobe Bakonyi (Kobe-Na) and Tom Fitzsimons (Tomi-Taka) will be performing over the school holidays.

(Tomi-Taka) will be performing over the school holidays.
SCHOOL kids from around Corangamite Shire can take a musical journey into the world of music, comedy, circus and dance during the holidays.
The interactive performance ‘Junklandia’ will use rhythm, humour and physical theatre, to take the audience on a captivating journey about how through teamwork and creativity we can overcome seemingly insurmountable issues like pollution.
The performance tells the story of two brothers from planet Junklandia who are on a mission to teach Earthlings about music and creative recycling.
The show ends with a ‘junk orchestra’ where each audience member, equipped with a recycled instrument, will come together to create a one-of-a-kind junkyard band.
Council economic development and events officer Tammy Young said the Junkyard Beats company had been performing in major events, theatres, schools and festivals across Australia for the past six years.
“They put on a fun, dynamic rhythm show that includes workshops and creative musical activities that show the benefits of collaboration and teamwork,” she said.
“The group blends drumming, body percussion, dance, junk percussion, circus and hilarious skits to excite and inspire their audiences."
“They won the ‘Critics Pick’ award at the 2018 Sydney Fringe Festival and the 2017 TAFE ‘Contribution to the Community’ award.”
The show will be at the Theatre Royal in Camperdown on Friday, July 1, from 11 am to 12.25 pm.
The cost is $5 per child and bookings can be made via Eventbrite at bit.ly/3MnzmfH.

In the second week of the school holidays, the Theatre Royal will host Camperdown Theatre Company’s ‘The Panto Puzzle’.
The main characters, Dame Dolly and Cheeky Charlie, turn up at the theatre to find out that the pantomime has been cancelled.
For more active kids, there will be holiday fun at the Camperdown Community Stadium on Fuller Street, according to stadium administration officer Nicole Oberin.
“Netball and basketball clinics are on offer as well as soccer with the Corangamite Lions,” she said.
“The well-loved Fit Kids sessions will be back too, with Pickleball, badminton, giant games and crafts.”
Ms Oberin reminded the community the stadium was there for use during term too.
