FAIRY floss, biscuit decorating, balloon creations and games helped entertain local youngsters in Cobden last week.

Progressing Cobden’s Kidding Around event held in the old home timber shopfront saw young families flock for some school holiday fun.

Kathryn Stubbings said it was estimated about 500 people were in attendance across the day.

“I’m amazed; It was really good,” she said.

“It was a fabulous turnout with people from all over the district and beyond.

“We’re overwhelmed with the response.”

Mrs Stubbings said feedback had been positive from those in attendance.

“Clearly there’s a need for something like this,” she said.

“It’s fantastic to see so many young kids out and about enjoying simple things.”

Activities on offer included biscuit decorating, plaster painting, fairy floss, word puzzles, colouring in, balloon animals, face painting, pool noodle decorating, reading nook, mini board games and paper planes.

The event was geared towards primary school aged children, with parental supervision required.

Kidding Around was held with the support of the Hampden Veterinary Clinic and Corangamite Shire.
