School joins Timboon 150
STUDENTS at Timboon P-12 School have designed posters to promote the celebration of Timboon’s 150th anniversary, which is all coming to a head this Labour Day weekend.

Timboon Action decided to encourage students at the school to get involved as a way of fostering engagement with the community and giving the students a sense of ownership over the planning and development of the historical event.
Committee member David Pope said the competition between students to create promotional posters was more about recognising everyone’s artistic talents.
“The point of the competition was to create a method of engagement,” he said.
“The committee decided to recognise all of the designs by enlarging them onto corflute.
“Each student got to take their design home, while we also printed another to display around the town.
“The designs are amazing. As always, students and young people provide the most fantastic interpretations of ideas and concepts.
“They’re all so different and equally fantastic.”
Mr Pope said he and the committee were grateful for the students to be involved, especially regarding their interest in what’s happening around town.
“This weekend is exciting not just because of the festivities, but because lots of people are coming back to town, such as former residents, students and business owners,” he said.
“I’m excited for reconnections. The events are exciting but I’m more excited for everyone to come back together.
“We can be overwhelmed thinking about putting together a great big event like this, but it should be about connecting with one another and having time to reflect.
“That’s what the whole thing should be about.”
Celebrations for Timboon’s 150th anniversary will commence this weekend.
Posters created by the students can be found along the fence in front of the Timboon amphitheatre.
