TERANG College will host a repurpose event this weekend with all funds raised to help the school build a new playground.
Desks, tables, shelves, chairs and more will be sold to those looking to give the décor a new lease of life.
There will also be library books and other goods, with a little something for everyone to take home while raising funds for a good cause.
Items on sale will be sold at bargain prices, with a couple of dollars investment opening the world of options for a new restoration project, shed accessories for tools or artistic space, or even just a place for the kids to get their homework done.
“We think a lot of people can find a need for the items in a different way, so we’re inviting people to come along and have a look at the leftover equipment and materials,” Terang College principal Kath Tanner said.
“We’ve got lots of tables and chairs in reasonable condition, a few tables from the art room, filing cabinets, shelving from the old library.
“We’ve got a huge community of farmers and retirees so we think there will be a lot of people who would like something to tinker with in the shed or shelving that’s very affordable.”
Prices will be at a bare minimum there will even be a room of free items in need of a little more restorative care.
“We’re not looking to make a lot of money and a table might only be $5,” Ms Tanner said.
“It’s more that we want the equipment to be used rather than a piece of our school’s history being put in to landfill,” she said.
“But we’ve just ordered our new playground after a massive raffle and the parents club have been madly raising funds all year.
“We’re purchasing two play-grounds which cost in excess of $100,000 to get equipment which meets Australian standards, so this is another avenue of assisting us in raising some funds.”
For those who don’t own a ute or trailer, a delivery service will be running on the day courtesy of parents and staff.
The day will be a celebration with a sausage sizzle, pizza and soft drink available.
Gold coin donation on entry.
The repurpose event will be hosted at the former Terang College P-4 Campus at 6655 Princes Highway, Terang, from 9am-12pm.
