School zones now active
POLICE are reminding drivers to slow down around schools as students across the district return to school for Term One.
Camperdown Police Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Raven said students returned last Friday, marking the beginning of time-zoned school zones.
“Drivers need to remember to go 40km/h in school zones,” he said.
“Police will be out in force to make sure people are abiding by those rules.
“There are lots of new kids starting – both new preps and students starting high school.
“Drivers need to be conscious of pedestrians and ensure they are sticking to the speed limits.”
Some schools will have signposted times for the speed reduction – usually between 8-9.30am and 2.30-4pm from Monday to Friday – while others are permanently 40km/h speed zones.
