“We came up against a very experienced and determined Cobden team,” Camperdown coach Jill Leader said.

The 19 goal to eight second quarter in the Bombers favour proved decisive in the end result.

“We had a bad second quarter where they got away from us, we tried a few moves but struggled to bridge the gap after that.

“It happened a few times during the year where we just let teams get away for five to 10 minutes which proves costly.”

Defenders Elsie Sinnott, Annaliese Hughes and Rosie Pickles were best for Camperdown in the loss.

“It was tough being a defender, the ball kept coming down, our defensive unit got a lot of turnovers.

“We struggled to pass the transverse line.”

Piper Stephens led the scoring for the Magpies with 23 goals, with goal shooter Nell Mitchell putting through 19.

“The girls were disappointed and flat after the game, we want to have that feeling of disappointment as it shows it matters.”

While the players will rest for a bit, Leader has plenty of work ahead.

“We’ll be busy over the next bit with recruiting and planning, as well as looking for an Open assistant coach and coaches for division one, two and three.

“Plus there’s our remaining junior teams to support, there really is a lot of talent in our junior ranks.”
