FELICITY Wood has sailed an absolute ‘stellar race’ to take out this year’s Allan Noone Memorial at the Derrinallum Yacht and Power Boat Club.
The club officially launched its sailing season last Sunday week.
Ten yachts were on the water for the number one pennant race.
With great winds, this race was the lead-up to the memorial La Mans race, where times from the first event are used to handicap a start time for the race.
The memorial has been running for three years, with participants starting from the shore.
Last year’s winner Lucy Blersch reluctantly handed over the trophy to the 2023 winner, Felicity Wood, after a great race on her yacht, Mars.
The club will now kick off its sailing program with learn-to-sail days each Sunday morning, followed by pennant racing in the afternoons.
During the season members will travel to regional clubs to participate in regattas.
The Derrinallum club will again host a regional classic regatta on December 9 and 10.
Anyone interested in giving sailing a try can contact the club through its Facebook page or commodore, Phil Noone.
