The Bombers made a bright start, leading 17-12 at quarter time before getting out to a 36-20 lead at the main break.

“Our first half was fantastic, a really strong quarter gave us a really good buffer for the rest of the game,” Cobden coach Nadine McNamara said.

Camperdown hit back in the third, but could only reduce the margin to 13 goals at the last change before Cobden finished strongly to run out 17 goal winners.

Goal keeper Remeny McCann was best on court in the win.

“Rem was fantastic again and generated a lot of turnovers,” McNamara said.

“Last time we played Camperdown their attackers were able to regularly get the ball through our defence, Rem’s role was to shut down that long ball coming in which she did very well.”

Sophie Hinkley and Jaymie Finch were also in the best for the Bombers.

“Sophie played wing attack then went to goal attack for the fourth quarter, she was a fantastic option all day, she played with strength and composure.

“It was one of Jaymie’s best games, she was very influential and accurate with her goal shooting.”

Finch led Cobden’s scorers with 27 goals, with Molly Hutt scoring 25.

McNamara also had praise for the game of goal defence Jess McGlade.

“Jess was superb in defence, her elevation and turnover work was fantastic,” McNamara said.

This Sunday Cobden will play Warrnambool in the first semi-final at the Leura Oval.

“We’ve learnt a lot from both times we played Warrnambool.

“Hopefully we can get a lot of supporters there and a good crowd behind us with the game being just over at Camperdown.”
