Sharing a story nationally

STUDENTS at Camperdown College’s junior campus were among thousands of students across Australia to participate in National Simultaneous Storytime recently.

National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual event run by the Australian Library and Information Association to promote the value in reading books while promoting Australian writers and publishers.

This year’s book, Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller, had a sporting theme which saw some additional activites following the reading.

Librarian Lauren Murphy said National Simultaneous Storytime was a much-loved event at the school, with the sporting theme of this year’s book allowing some special guests to visit students.

“A big thank you to the Corangamite Lions Football Club for visiting our junior campus on Wednesday, May 27 and sharing the story Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller with our Prep-Year Six students as part of National Simultaneous Storytime,” she said.

“Following the story, students participated in lunchtime drills and games with members of the Corangamite Lions Football Club.

“The activities were a fantastic way to encourage teamwork, movement and fun while building positive connections within our school community.

“We greatly appreciate the Corangamite Lions Football Club for supporting this special event and creating such an enjoyable experience for our students.”
