Shire delivers under budget
PROPERTY owners are set to benefit from a reduced special charge scheme for the recently completed Tait Street footpath in Camperdown, with the project coming in under budget.

Corangamite Shire Council moved to pass the savings onto residents at last week’s council meeting.
The footpath between Daskein Street and Clark Street was estimated to cost $22,161 at the 2023 October council meeting, with property owners to contribute $5540 through the special charges scheme.
The final cost was under budget at $21,846, reducing the contribution by property owners to $5462.
Councillor Ruth Gstrein said the final cost was “good news”.
“I know that there was a little bit of angst by some of the adjoining property owners, but I’m pleased to say that, even though it is a small amount, it has come in under budget,” she said.
“The feedback I am getting from people who are using the path has certainly been very positive.”
Cr Laurie Hickey said there were extra works done during the construction of the footpath.
“There was associated drainage work done with some of the properties that were subject to some flooding, so the footpath has addressed that, and it will mean a lot easier access to lawns and the like,” he said.
“Also, kudos to the team to have brought it in again under budget. Congratulations to them all.”
