Sinnott in form for Magpies
THE tough start to the season continued for Camperdown’s senior footballers, with the Magpies going down to Hamilton by 54 points on Saturday.
The home team led all day to record a 17.10.112 to 9.4.58 win at Hamilton’s Melville Oval.
“From a competition perspective, I felt we were much more competitive than the week before which was pleasing,” Camperdown coach Clinton Thomas said.
“Hamilton has recruited well, they’ve got a really, really strong on-ball unit which I thought we matched, we really lost it inside the forward and defensive arcs on the weekend.”
Young midfielder Wilba Cheeseman had a breakout game, gathering a match high 36 disposals, with 23 kicks and 13 handballs.
“I said after the game that Wilba’s one of these guys that has shown great promise but mainly in patches.
“On Saturday he put in a really sustained four quarter effort and his stats support that.”
Zach Sinnott was Camperdown’s best with 31 possessions.
“Zach was back to his best, he looked a lot more assertive with the ball this week.
“He didn’t have the best of games the week before, but this week it was back to the Zach that we know.”
Camperdown handed a senior debut to recruit Gryff Dwyer.
“Gryff slotted in really well down back. He’s a classic tough lockdown defender.”
