Sit and sew success
SEWERS and quilters around the district gathered to raise money for cancer at a recent sit and sew event.

On Sunday, July 13, 30 crafters got together at the Cobden Senior Citizen’s Hall and raised $700 for cancer research.
Organiser Helen Smith said the event was all done through Australia’s Biggest Quilting Bee, which is similar to the Biggest Morning Tea hosted earlier this year.
The event aimed to raise money for cancer research through entry fees and donations.
Mrs Smith said the range of crafting at the event was vast with attendees trying an array of activities.
“Some were working on quilts, others were working on embroideries, sewing machines and some knitting as well and a lady crocheting,” she said.
“Everyone enjoyed the morning and afternoon tea.
“There was plenty of food and I had other people help me out on the day which was great.”
Mrs Smith thanked those who volunteered to assist and all who attended the event for bringing together a successful day.
