Skipton fatality

POLICE are investigating the circumstances behind a fatal motorcycle crash on the Glenelg Highway around five east of Skipton.

A 71-year-old motorcyclist was riding a three-wheeled motorcycle when he crashed last Wednesday (October 15) at around 11.30am.

Camperdown Police Acting Senior Sergeant Stuart Revell said the rider was experienced and was the only one involved in the incident.

“Police are still investigating the circumstances around the incident,” he said.

“During that incident, the Glenelg Highway between the Skipton township and the Pittong-Lismore Road was closed from 11.30am until around 4pm.

“The investigation is with Warrnambool Highway Patrol, who will follow-up.

“If anyone has any dashcam footage of someone riding a three-wheel motorcycle, please forward it to Crime Stoppers or to Warrnambool Highway Patrol.”

Footage can be sent via the Warrnambool Police email warrnambool.uni@police.vic.gov.au, or online to Crime Stoppers at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

Act Snr Sgt Revell encouraged drivers and riders to take care on the roads.

“Drive to the conditions on our roads, and make sure you’re prepared when doing long trips,” he said.
