Skipton to host market for appeal

SKIPTON’S Montgomery Street will be filled with Easter cheer and local wares for its second annual Skipton Good Friday Appeal Market.

The market, which will run from 9am-1pm on Friday, April 3, will include a variety of children’s games as well as a classic car display and a spinning wheel.

Market coordinator Jan Murphy said the Skipton Progress Association decided to continue the markets after raising $474 in one day last year.

“It’s mainly just market stalls – there will be a few kids’ games as well,” she said.

“We’re not going to have a figure, but hopefully we can match what we did last year and then some.

“We’ll have stalls in the main street and are looking for more stallholders.

“We’ll also have traffic control measure for safety.

“There’s a raffle which will be drawn at 12noon and it’ll include Easter eggs.”

Ms Murphy said there would also be a special visitor at the market for the day.

“The Easter Bunny will be roaming around on the day, so kids can get their photo taken,” she said.

“We did it last year as well, and it was very well-received.”

All funds raised on the day will go towards the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Anyone looking to have a stall at the markets can book by contacting Ms Murphy on 0422 785 017.
