Slugs show finals strength

Slugs had to fight hard to claim their first Corangamite A grade volleyball premiership for several seasons.
Their semi-final and grand finals were both three-set matches which could have easily got away from them.
After winning the first games in both matches, Slugs dropped the second games before settling again to take the honours.
Semi-final opponents, Spikers, played their best volleyball for the season against Slugs and were unlucky not to earn the right to play Bulls in the grand final.
Bulls and NOBTs played extra-time in their semi-final before the classy Cooriemungle boys edged ahead to win their final spot.
All matches produced top-level volleyball.
Slugs’ Sam Rix was judged MVP in the A grade final while Matthew Coverdale (Ballbusters) took out the award in the B grade final against Poachers.
Poachers qualified to play in the second division final by defeating the young Megladons but found the serving power of Ballbusters too much to overcome.
Results:
A grade semi-finals: Slugs defeated Spikers 2-1, Bulls defeated NOBTS 3-2.
Final: Slugs defeated Bulls 2-1
B grade semi-final: Poachers defeated Megladons 3-1.
Final: Ballbusters defeated Poachers 2-1
