Social bowls to help save pool
RESIDENTS are being invited to come along to a special fundraising game of bowls next weekend.
The social bowls, which will be held on Sunday, April 26, is open to all skill levels and will support fundraising efforts to reopen the Rodney Grove Heated Pool.
Friends of Rodney Grove Heated Pool and Gym chair Lesley Brown said the social bowls will be run in partnership with the Cobden Bowls Club at their 9 Rix Avenue club.
“We’re hoping to make money so we can open the pool again,” she said.
“The Friends of Rodney Grove Pool are working hard in the community raising money.
“We’ve already raised $11,000 on our own, and we’re applying for grants and other funding where we can.
“For a small group only just getting going, we’re pretty pleased with the total but we’ve got a long way to go.”
The social bowls will run from 1-4pm, with all participants encouraged to submit their names for teams by 12.30pm on the day.
The event will see two games with four ends, with afternoon tea provided.
Entry is $5 per person, with raffles to be held on the day.
