A great day: The Terang Hospital Ladies Auxiliary has raised around $3000 for Terang and Mortlake Health Service during this year’s Jazz Afternoon, headlined by a visit from the Hot-B Hines.

The Terang Hospital Ladies Auxiliary hosted its annual Jazz Afternoon fundraiser on Sunday.

The occasion saw all seats filled as members of the community descended on the Terang Bowls Club to enjoy good music and company while raising funds for local health services.

Terang Hospital Ladies Auxiliary secretary Susan Keane said all involved were pleased with another successful afternoon.

“We were very pleased to see a capacity crowd,” she said.

“The band, Hot-B Hines, was as good as ever and the raffle was as successful – with the raffle won by James Kenna of Warrnambool.

“Afternoon tea was enjoyed and it was a very successful function.”

Terang Ladies Auxiliary treasurer Michelle Mackinnon said the fundraiser this year saw an increase in support.

“We’ve raised a bit more than usual thanks to our raffle this year,” she said.

“Ticket sales were around the same as capacity but our raffle raised more – a lot of people bought lots of tickets.

“It was a good prize, $300 voucher to spend at the Vue Grand Hotel in Queenscliff – a great prize and people were happy to donate.”

Mrs Mackinnon thanked all involved for helping to ensure the event was a success, which in turn will see support continue to flow to local health services.

“Thank you to everyone who supported the fundraiser,” she said.

“We received a very generous donation from the Terang Op Shop to help cover the cost of the band, which we’re very appreciative of.

“It was a great result, and an absolute pleasure to again have the Hot-B Hines perform in Terang.”
