DESPITE a loss on the weekend, Woorndoo cricket captain Tyler Schafer said he was “thrilled” with his side’s performance.

Playing at home to Bookaar last Saturday, the Tigers fell short of victory but remain upbeat about the season.

Like others across the district, the team was eager to get a game underway after the last four wash-outs.

“It was great to finally be able to get out there and have a game,” Schafer said.

“Some people may say it’s disappointing not to have won the first one, but I was actually really pleased with how the whole team went.

“We played well, everyone fulfilled their roles and I’m sure a win is just around the corner.”

While Schafer was himself able to add 34 runs to the board, he praised the efforts of Brody Mifsud who made 32 and proved handy in the field.

“Brody had a great game; I was really pleased with how he went all day,” Schafer said.

“And Tom Gray was also very handy for us, he did well in the field and made 20-odd runs as a lower order batsman.”

Woorndoo finished the day with 7/148 while Bookaar scored 3/155.

Best of the bowlers for the Tigers were Isaac Fowler 1/14 and Jason Fowler 1/15.

Triston Gray contributed 20 not out.

Due to player unavailability, the Tigers forfeited their division three match last weekend.
