Solid win for Tigers
SIMPSON’S senior footballers notched up their second win of the season, with a solid 61-point victory over Otway Districts.
Playing in front of a home crowd last Saturday, the Tigers showed plenty of passion and drive for the ball, making full use of all opportunities presented.
The first quarter was a low-scoring affair, with both sides unable to post a goal, while in the second term the Tigers stepped it up a notch, kicking 5.4 to Otway’s 2.3 to go into the main break with a handy 21-point lead.
The Tigers extended their lead in the third term to 47 points before bringing it home in the last to take the win.
Final scores were Simpson 12.15.87 to Otway Districts 3.8.26.
Best for the Tigers were Brock Neal, Mitch Reed, Addam Maric, Rhys Jansen van Beek, Reegan Jones and Darcy Leishman.
Goals went to Jarrod Garth and Nicholas Harding (four each), Brock Neal (2) and one apiece to Matthew Drayton and Brad Salmon.
Earlier in the day, Simpson’s reserves thrilled their home crowd, booting 18.14.122 to Otway Districts 1.0.6.
Jayden Rooke, Rohan Johns, Jaryd Duynhoven, Kyle Clemmens, Jason Kordupel and Jordan Riches were named best in what was a great team effort.
Goals went to Jonathon Jennings (4), Riches and Bailey Vines (three each), Clemmens and Brodie Neale (two each).
Single goals came from Noah Ackerley, Rohan Johns, Cody Mason and Jason McVilly.
Simpson also enjoyed a big win in the under 18s, winning by 102 points – 17.11.113 to 1.5.11, putting them second on the league ladder.
Best for the Tigers last weekend were Jayden Gass, Blake Ferrari, Geordie Ferrari, Bodhi Crole, Nate Sambell and Jaxon Garvie.
Simpson’s netballers also had a great day out on the courts, winning six of the seven games played.
A grade – Simpson defeated Otway Districts 53-41. Best players: Chloe Woods, Holly Duynhoven and Sophie Cronin.
B grade – Otway Districts defeated Simpson 41-34. Best: Brianna Gass, Tahlia Daniels and Macey-lee Hickey.
C grade – Simpson defeated Otway Districts 41-28. Best: Leah Graham, Rachael Duynhoven and Georgia Arndell.
D grade – Simpson defeated Otway Districts 33-22. Best: Jade Sambell, Sharni Ward and Brianna Ferrari.
17 and under – Simpson defeated Otway Districts 30-26. Best: Tyra Sambell, Olivia Rhode and Esha Crole.
15 and under - Simpson defeated Otway Districts 46-21. Best: Esha Crole, Leah Godfrey and Amelia Daniels.
13 and under – Simpson defeated Otway Districts 31-29. Best: MilahCrole, Keisha McVilly and Halle Barake.
