South West honours top cricketers
SOUTH West Cricket Association has recognised and celebrated its top players at its annual presentation night on Monday.

For the first time, the event was staged at the Camperdown Football Netball Club social rooms.
The night started with a joint stream of the Colac-South West premier division one awards, with the Colac District CA presentation night taking place at the same time at the Colac RSL.
Heytesbury-Princetown skipper Matthew Love tied in the voting in the premier competition with Birregurra’s Alex Inglis on 13 votes and were both awarded the Bill Johnston Medal, traditionally given to the top vote getter in the CDCA top grade.
Colac co-captain Will Ruddell won the champion player on points award with 861.
Stoneyford’s Kavian Naresh won the batting average award with 459 runs at 91.80, with Love taking out the batting aggregate with 780 runs.
Pomborneit leg-spinner Lahiru Fernando won the bowling average award with 27 wickets at 13.07, with Woorndoo’s Jarryd Walsh winning the bowling aggregate with 29 wickets.
The Aaron Finch young cricketer of the year went to Cobden all-rounder Eddie Walsh, with Irrewarra young gun Jarvis Holland taking out the Gavan Holland wicket-keeper of the year award for his 16 dismissals.
The team of the year was announced and comprised Matthew Love (Heytesbury-Princetown), Alex Inglis (Birregurra), Simon Harkness (Heytesbury-Princetown), Will Ruddell (Colac), Michael Fallon (Birregurra), Tim Fitzgerald (Bookaar), Liam McGuane (Alvie), Harris Cathcart (Irrewarra), Lahiru Fernando (Pomborneit), Jarryd Walsh (Woorndoo), Matt McKay (Alvie) and Parker Walsh (Cobden).
Pomborneit duo Lahiru Fernando and Roshane Fernando tied in the South West CA Twenty20 player of the year award.
Ecklin’s Harry Bee won the representative player of the year award for his efforts at Melbourne Country Week.
In the division two awards, Pomborneit skipper Charlie Voutier won the cricketer of the year award with 15 votes.
Heytesbury-Princetown Blue veteran Ashley Price won the batting aggregate with 403 runs, with Heytesbury-Princetown Purple teenager Jalen Berry taking out the most wickets with 16.
In division three, Pomborneit Gold opener Matt Richardson took out the cricketer of the year award with 17 votes, as well as the batting aggregate with 504 runs.
Heytesbury-Princetown seamer Leigh Doak took out the most wickets with 23.
Bookaar premiership captain Audrey Ringe took out the women’s cricketer of the year with 14 votes in the Wednesday night competition.
Cobden’s Ingrid Bellman won the batting award with 201 runs, with Nirranda’s Sophie Walsh taking the most wickets with nine.
Bookaar teenager Breeanna Daffy won the rising star award, with Cobden all-rounder Jess Walsh winning the representative player of the year title.
The women’s team of the year was announced, featuring Audrey Ringe, Breeana Daffy, Erin Hassett and Kayla Hooper (Bookaar), Ingrid Bellman, Kelsey Fratantaro and Jess Walsh (Cobden), Rachel O'Keefe and Kelly Gowland (Ecklin), Sophie Walsh and Tanya McKenzie (Nirranda).
