Sparks fly over Gladiators
MORTLAKE’S midweek netball season finished with a strong grand final win by Sparks.
Sparks had only lost one game during the season, finishing on top of the ladder.
The grand final between Sparks and second-placed Gladiators was a close one.
Sparks were only two goals in front at half-time but in a dominant third quarter, scored 11 goals to five.
Final scores were 40-29 to Sparks.
Best players on the night were Spencer Sagnol and Mikayla Madzarevic for the premiers, and Ashlee Killen and Sarah Cameron for Gladiators.
The season’s best and fairest award was won by Spencer Sagnol with 13 votes, ahead of runner-up Sadie Baker on 12.
Cam Goddard finished third with 10 votes.
The most improved award was presented to Nick Krepp who went in to the season with limited netball experience but was willing to take advice on board and improved his skills throughout the season.
