Special day for Fox family
IT WAS a memorable day for the Fox family on Saturday, with father/son duo Darren and Bailey Fox putting on an unbeaten 193 run partnership in Pomborneit Maroon’s division three match against Woorndoo.

Coming together with the Bulls in trouble at 2/12, the pair batted out the rest of the innings to get the Bulls to 2/205.
“Those first two wickets went quickly so we didn’t have a lot of time to think about it,” Darren Fox said.
The Fox’s played together in Pomborneit’s division four premiership team in 2024/25, with Darren relishing another opportunity to bat with his son.
“We had a good partnership in a game last year, getting out there early together felt like another good chance to put a partnership together.
“We definitely made the most of it.”
Twelve year-old Bailey scored his maiden half century at senior level with 57 not out from 116 balls.
For Darren, who returned to the game last year after a long hiatus, it was his first century, finishing unbeaten on 114 from 126 balls.
“We didn’t know our scores, we definitely weren’t counting,” Darren laughed.
“Towards the end of the innings Craig Boyd at square leg started updating us.”
Achieving the feat at Woorndoo was extra special, with the Camperdown based pair both playing football at the Woorndoo/Mortlake FNC.
“There’s been a bit of banter from the footy club guys about spending more time in the middle Saturday than I did during footy season.
“I felt just as tired as I would after playing footy.”
Seeing his son do well had plenty of meaning for Darren.
“Bailey was stoked, cricket means the world to him, for me the highlight was to share his achievement with him.”
The pair look forward to making the most of their chances to play together.
“The opportunities Pomborneit has given us and the way they are keeping Bailey challenged has been fantastic.
“The family culture the club has made is fantastic to be part of.”
