Moyne Shire Council announced the Special Meeting of Council will be held next Tuesday, May 7.

Moyne Shire mayor Ian Smith said the purpose of the meeting would be for councillors to consider the draft budget and put it on public exhibition for community feedback.

“The budget has been prepared over the past few months taking in feedback from the community,” he said.

“There’s no denying that the financial situation is tough, but we are in a good position and have put together a responsible and manageable budget that continues to deliver on services the community expects.

Cr Smith said a separate confidential item will provide the opportunity for councillors to resolve the appointment of a new chief executive officer.

“We are also very excited to finalise the appointment a chief executive officer,” he said.

“We have found an excellent candidate to fill the role and lead the organisation.

“We look forward to being able to announce who the successful person is publicly in the days following the meeting.”

The special meeting will be held from 9.30am at council’s Port Fairy chambers.

The open section of the meeting will be broadcast live via council’s Facebook page.
