Special visit: Baranbali Kindergarten hosted a special Dad’s Night for families recently.

The Dad’s Night was held recently, with kindergarten children able to show off what they’ve been learning to their families and enjoy some family time.

Baranbali Kindergarten director Bronwyn O’Keeffe said the night, which ran from 6.30-8pm, was kicked off with a barbecue supported by the kindergarten’s committee.

“It was organised during daylight savings, so the children could show their families outside as well as inside,” she said.

“A couple of the highlights were the obstacle course we set up – a long course that was a bit challenging, so the children could show off their skills – and the children had an opportunity to show their families their memory books they will be taking home at the end of the year.

“It shows where they’re up to and showcases good memories – such as when they did cooking, when they went to the library and some of the art activities they enjoyed.

“It was a really nice evening.”

Children enjoyed the opportunity to show their speed on the billycart hill as well as their swinging ability on the swings.

Families were also engaged through a number of activities, from helping create tunnels and rivers in the sandpit outside to craft sessions with boxes and glue inside.

Artworks completed by the children were also on display, with families able to see what their children have been working on over the course of the year.

Ms O’Keefe said the evening was part of the kindergarten’s regular family-based activities, with opportunities each term for families to visit the kindergarten and see what their children have been doing.

“We usually have one specifically a term for families to be at the kinder, but we will also be having our Christmas Concerts which will be held at the end of the year as a big family event,” she said.

“We do grandparents day, we do a Mother’s Day afternoon tea and concert in May, and the three-year-olds have lunch with their dads for Father’s Day.”
