A special reunion at the Noorat ground last Saturday, attracted a large number of players, officials and supporters of Noorat’s 2000 senior football premiership.

In what was a memorable day at the Noorat football ground on Saturday, past players, officials and supporters gathered to share memories, tell stories and have a few laughs.

Recalling the club’s 41-point victory over Kolora in the grand final of the Heytesbury Mt Noorat Football Netball League, organiser Adam Box said the premiership win was a great one for all.

“The grand final was played at the Cobden Recreation Reserve on a very wet, windy and muddy day,” Box said.

“We kicked 9.15.69 to Kolora’s 4.4.28 and the best player medal was awarded to Noorat’s Drew Pevitt.”

Last Saturday’s reunion was hailed a “tremendous success.”

“It (Saturday) was a great day, marked by an impressive turnout from the premiership team,” Box said.

“Out of the entire squad, only three players were unfortunately unable to attend.

“The event was further enriched by the presence of a majority of the committee members, including Grant Stonehouse who served as president at the time, myself in my dual roles as player and secretary, and Linda Kenna who was treasurer.”

Included among the large crowd was the 2000 premiership coach, Shane Quick.

“It was truly heartening to see that the reunion also extended beyond players and committee members,” Box said.

“There were many devoted Noorat supporters, along with their partners and families, who came together to celebrate and share in the festivities.”

Several of those who attended Saturday’s event had travelled from far and wide.

This included attendees from Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia which highlighted the deep bonds that had been forged through the club.

“The day was filled with laughter, storytelling and heartfelt reminiscing, not only about the thrill of winning the premiership but also reflecting on what an exceptional football and netball club Noorat was.

“The club has had an incredibly positive and lasting impact on all of us, both on and off the field, creating lifelong friendships and memories.

“We look forward to continuing this tradition of camaraderie and celebration in the years to come – but we won’t be waiting another 25 years before our next reunion.”

* To top off the day’s celebrations, Kolora Noorat’s senior footballers defeated South Rovers by 106 points, 22.18.150 to 6.8.44.

Coach Sam Uwland led the goal kicking with five majors.
