Special trail for savvy shoppers

SAVVY shoppers, bargain hunters and vintage enthusiasts gathered in Pomborneit last Thursday for the launch of Corangamite Shire’s new Vintage Road Trip.

Around 30 people attended the launch event, which was held at Pombo Mart.

Arranged by Corangamite Shire Council, the event celebrated a whole-of-shire promotion, embracing creativity, sustainability, business and community.

A Corangamite Shire Council spokesperson said the road trip was a direct outcome from the Grow and Prosper Framework, Circular Economy action plan, with over 500 people already expressing interest in the road trip online.

“The Vintage Road Trip will be promoted online, through council’s email and print newsletters and with flyers in posters and visitor information centres,” the spokesperson said.

“The page includes a map and self-guided itinerary around to guide serious collectors and casual treasure hunters alike around Corangamite’s op-shops, collectables, bric-a-brac, antiques and second-hand shops.

“So far 21 businesses are included, and new destinations can easily be added.

“Camperdown and District Community House is bringing the Vintage Road Trip experience to life with two scheduled half-day bus trips in December”.

Residents can book a seat on one or both of the bus trips online at https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1493899.
