ALL roads lead to Darlington’s Midwestern Speedway tomorrow (Saturday) for a huge day of on-track action.
From 11.30am the track will come alive with a variety of classes, including a tribute race to late former Mortlake man Brendan Hannabury, a memorial for Skipton legend Col Grist, a track championship and points events for the Formula 500s.
With over 20 entries for the Hanno Tribute race, with drivers travelling from South Australia and right across Victoria, the event is sure to be a hotly-contested one.
The Super Rod line-up includes Victorian champion Jacob Pitcher, Jamie May, Allan Pitcher, Neville Gange, Stan Marco Jnr and Dane Court who will all be keen to get their hands on the prestigious Col Grist Memorial.
Jacob Pitcher is representing his number one status well however through family connections, Dane Court has his eyes on the prize this Saturday more than most – and watch for Neville Gange who is always exciting on the track.
The Standard Saloon action, which follows on from the Gold Helmet feature two weeks ago, will see the return of Coby McCabe from the Portland club who is keen to chase the track championship prize.
McCabe will have tough competition from Andrew Cormack, Aaron Cormack, Nathan Hutchins, Dean Pedersen and Bailey Sinclair.
A small yet competitive field of Formula 500s have nominated to compete, with some great competitors from Warrnambool across to Geelong in the field.
Terry Rankin, Brooke Buckingham, and Liam Russell are a few drivers with several strong results to hand while new drivers to the adult ranks of F500s this season such as Dylan Anton and Jett Hart have an opportunity to secure a podium result.
In the junior category, Aston Rodrigues, Koby O’Shannassy and Hugo Chivell stand out as front runners.
Gates will open for competitors from 8am while admission for the general public will be from 10am.
Racing begins at 11:30am and is expected to conclude between 4pm and 5pm.
Eftpos will not be available at the track (cash only).
Canteen facilities will operate.
Admission is $20, with family tickets available.
Children under the age of 10 will be admitted free.
