Sportsmen’s club host awards night

CORANGAMITE Sportsmen’s Club held its latest awards dinner in Camperdown last Tuesday night.

The club recognised their junior and senior sports stars and teams for the months of April, May, June, July, August and September at the Commercial Hotel.

For April, Matt Molan (clay target shooting) and Simon Bowman (marathon running) took out junior and senior sport star awards.

Terang Tornadoes’ under 14 girls basketball team took out the junior team award and Camperdown Golf Club veterans Allan White, Keith Stephens and Jeff Collins received the senior team award for April.

Equestrian rider Stella Horspole received the junior sport star for May, while Derrinallum Yacht and Powerboat Club members Allan Noone and Tim MacDonald took out the senior team award.

Max Wines accepted the senior team award on behalf of the Heytesbury Indoor Bias Bowls Association for the month of June.

In July, Arthur Finch (indoor bowls) was named senior sport star, while Zach Gellie (football) received it in August.

And in September, junior sports star awards were given to Grace Bone (netball) and Maggie Conheady (netball umpiring) and the senior sport star went to Peter Reilly.

The senior team awards went to Corangamite Lions (soccer) and Camperdown Golf Club quartet Jenny Hillman, Deb Narik, Liz Fry and Leah Cheeseman.

The Sportsmen’s club will stage its next dinner on December 10.
