The free Women’s Health Unfiltered: Hormones, Health and Happiness program will run on August 15 at the Lismore Community Art Centre, with a panel focusing on women’s health issues and tips for happiness.

Included on the panel will be GP obstetrician Dr Heidi Cutting, author and cancer survivor Tracey Kruger GP and lecturer Dr Kate Stotskaia and women’s health chiropractor Tyna Murray

SWH Camperdown and Lismore community health manager Lauren Patterson said women go through many stages and changes throughout their lives, many of which can impact their wellbeing and physical health.

“It can sometimes feel isolating and difficult to navigate the health system in a regional setting to find the help and resources you need – so we wanted to host a fun event that would bring everyone together to laugh, cry, celebrate or commiserate what it means to be a woman,” she said.

The event will feature a facilitated panel session followed by a Q and A with a light supper and an opportunity to catch up with old friends and new over a few drinks and a chat.

“Hopefully attendees can get together and share their experiences and learn from the collective wisdom in the room,” Mrs Patterson said.

“We just want people to have fun and to know that whatever they are going through they are most likely not alone”.

Dr Heidi Cutting and Dr Kate Stotskaia are both teachers at Deakin University’s Clinical School with a passion in women’s health and operate as local GPs.

Tracey Kruger is a local photographer, author and cancer survivor living on a farm at Croxton East.

Tyna Murray is a chiropractor and owner of Realign Chiropractic with specialised training in pelvic floor health.

“The panel of presenters bring a wide variety of experience and expertise and are informed about the latest women’s health issues and research,” Mrs Patterson said.

“They are dynamic, rural women themselves – two of whom are also farmers – and they have a lot of relevant life experience to share with our community.”

The event is sponsored by Wannon Water, the Derrinallum Community Op Shop, Lismore Newsagency, Full on Food Lismore and Wooltrack Store Lismore.

“Lismore Community Health provides women’s health support via our dedicated women’s health registered nurse Jenny Hirth every Thursday who provides cervical screening and education and advice around women’s health, located at Lismore Community Health, 102 High Street Lismore,” Mrs Patterson said.

Those interested in attending the free event can contact 5558 3000 or lswh@swh.net.au to RSVP and reserve a place.
