Spring proved dry

SPRING was on the dry side this year, with below average rainfall across Cobden and surrounds.

September saw a total of 40.6mm of rain fall across Cobden for the month, representing half of the long-term average of 87mm.

The highest daily rainfall was 16mm which was recorded on September 9.

Rain gauges were busy throughout October, with heavy rainfall experienced across much of the district.

After three months of only reaching the 40mm mark, October was a return to an average month for rainfall.

Across October, 74.8mm of rain hit the ground slightly below the long-term average of 79.3mm.

The wettest day of the month was October 13, which saw 14mm of rain falling.

November proved to be a dry one for those keeping an eye on rain gauges across Cobden and surrounds.

Rain was a rare sight last month, with just 30.4mm of falling for the month.

The monthly total was also well below the long-term average of 63.2mm.

To date this year, a total of 693.4mm of rain has hit the ground over Cobden well below the 964.6 received for the same time last year.

The wettest day of the month was November 26, which saw 11.8mm of rain fall.

Spring saw a total of 145.8mm of rain hitting the ground over Cobden and surrounds.
